Fried Egg Burger
Print RecipeIngredients
- ½ pound ground beef
- ½ teaspoon kosher salt
- 2 slices Swiss or cheddar cheese
- 2 tablespoons smashed avocado
- 2 strips bacon, cooked and cut into 4 slices
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 2 large eggs, room temperature
- Salt and pepper, for seasoning
- 2 hamburger buns
Instructions
- Mix the beef and salt in a big bowl. Shape the mixture into two patties, each about ½ inch thick and slightly bigger than your buns. Press your thumb gently in the middle to make a slight dent.*
- Heat oil in a big skillet over medium heat. Once hot, add the patties.
- Cook for 4 minutes on one side, then flip and cook for another 4 minutes, or until they reach 160°F internally.
- In the last minute of cooking, add cheese on top to melt. Then, transfer them to a plate lined with paper towels.
- If needed, clean your skillet and add 1 tablespoon of butter. Once melted, place all 4 bun halves, sliced side down, in the skillet.
- Cook for about 1-2 minutes until they turn golden brown. Then, take them out of the skillet.
- Put the remaining 1 tablespoon of butter in the skillet and let it melt.
- Then, reduce the heat to low. Crack each egg into the skillet and sprinkle with salt and pepper. Cook until the whites are set but the yolks are still a bit wiggly, around 3-4 minutes.
- Take them off the heat right away to prevent the yolks from cooking too much.
- When you’re ready to put it together, spread 1 tablespoon of avocado on the bottom of one bun. Add 1 burger, 2 slices of bacon, and 1 egg. Carefully place the top bun on, making sure not to break the yolk. Repeat the process with the rest of the ingredients.
- When you’re ready to eat, press down on the top bun to break the yolk, then enjoy right away.
Note:
- Be careful not to handle the meat too much, or the patties might end up tough.
