Fruit Chaat is a zesty and flavorful fruit salad well-loved in Pakistan and India. A variety of fruits are combined with a special spice mix known as chaat masala. In Pakistani tradition, it’s often enjoyed during Iftar throughout Ramadan and serves as a rejuvenating snack.
Fruit Chaat holds a special place in every Pakistani home, particularly during Ramadan’s Iftar. It’s an effortlessly prepared dish, incredibly adaptable, allowing you to customize the fruits according to your preferences.
To prepare fruit chaat, start by selecting a variety of fresh fruits like apples, bananas, oranges, grapes, and pomegranates. Wash and dice them into bite-sized pieces. In a mixing bowl, combine the diced fruits and sprinkle them with a homemade chaat masala made from cumin powder, black salt, dried mango powder (amchur), black pepper, and red chili powder. Squeeze fresh lemon juice over the fruits for tanginess, and gently toss everything together. Optionally, garnish with chopped cilantro or mint leaves for freshness. Serve immediately as a refreshing snack or appetizer.
