Lemon Iced Tea
Print RecipeIngredients
- 5 cups water
- 2 tbsps. black tea powder/black tea leaves or 3 regular sized black tea bags.
- 1 cup sugar (can also add ¼ cup to ⅓ cup sugar for a less sweet taste)
- Ice cubes (as required)
- lemon slices – few, for garnish, optional
Instructions
1. Steeping Tea:
- Take a pan, pour some water.
- Heat the pan over medium heat and bring the water to a boil. After the water boils, turn off the heat and add 2tbsps of black tea powder or place 6 tea bags to the pan. Add sugar. Mix very well.
- Give the tea leaves 4-5 minutes to steep in the water. You can steep for 2-3 minutes for a milder tea flavor. If using green tea, steep for 2 minutes.
- Add 3tbsps of lemon juice once the tea has steeped in the hot water. Add 4tbsps of lemon juice if you’d like it to taste more lemony. Stir with a spoon.
- Next, strain the lemon tea through a tea strainer into a heat-resistant steel or glass jar.
- Allow the lemon tea to cool at room temperature. You can refrigerate it afterwards.
2. Making Iced Tea:
- Place 4-5 ice cubes in a glass for serving. You can adjust the amount to suit your taste. If you’re using chilled iced tea straight from the fridge, ice cubes don’t need to be added.
- Pour the lemon tea in the glass.
- Garnish with a lemon slice or a sprig of mint leaves. Adding lemon slices is optional.
3. To Serve:
- Serve the lemon iced tea instantly. Use a spoon or stirrer to mix your lemon iced tea while you’re sipping.
Note:
- If not serving the iced tea the same day, refrigerate it. It stays fresh for 2 to 3 days in the fridge.
- Do not leave it outside as it may start to ferment.
