- 2 pounds baking potatoes, peeled and quartered
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup milk
- 2 tablespoons butter
- Salt as per taste
- Ground black pepper
Instructions
1. Boil the potatoes:
- Take a large pan and cold add water in it, be sure that there is enough cold water in the pan so that the water line sits about 1 inch above the potatoes. Stir the garlic and 1 tablespoon salt into the water.
- Reduce heat to medium-high and continue cooking for about 10-12 minutes, or until a knife inserted in the middle of a potato goes in easily with almost no resistance. Carefully drain out all of the water.
2. Prepare your melted butter mixture:
- Meanwhile, as the potatoes boiling, heat the butter, milk and an additional 2 teaspoons of salt together either in a small saucepan or in the microwave until the butter is just melted.
- Drain potatoes and return to the pot. Slowly add warm milk mixture, blending it in with a potato masher or electric mixer until potatoes are smooth and creamy. Season with salt and pepper.
